How to export your chat
Follow these simple steps to safely export your WhatsApp data and bring your memories to life.
Open your WhatsApp chat
Open WhatsApp on your phone and navigate to the chat you want to analyze. This works for both individual and group chats.
Export the Chat
Tap the three dots (⋮) or the contact name at the top. Select 'Export Chat'.
Include Media (Optional)
Choose 'Without Media' for a fast, small text export. Walyze reads the text of your chat only, so photos, videos and voice notes are shown as placeholders either way.
Save the exported .zip file
WhatsApp will generate a .zip file. Share it to yourself (via Email, Slack, or Google Drive) and download it to your device.
Upload & Relive
Go back to the Walyze homepage, upload the .zip file directly, and instantly explore your memories.
What happens when you upload?
1. Client-Side Key Generation
Before your file is uploaded, your browser generates a unique 256-bit encryption key. The key is kept in your browser and sent along with each request so the server can read your chat while answering, but it is never saved in our database.
2. In-Memory Processing
Your zip file is securely transmitted to our backend and parsed entirely in temporary memory. We never write your raw `.txt` files to a hard drive or storage bucket. Once read, the raw file is permanently destroyed.
3. Smart AI Indexing
Your messages are grouped into meaningful conversation pieces. These pieces are encrypted using your unique key and then saved into a secure database. This ensures the AI only reads exactly what is needed to answer your questions.
4. 24-Hour Auto-Destruction
Your encrypted data is given a strict 24-hour lifespan. When the timer expires, the database autonomously executes a permanent hard delete, wiping your session entirely from existence.
